In case u missed the Big L post on Friday, I said I would post another video today. Well I changed my mind and decided to post both of the remaining videos that Uncle Ralph put together. Once again, I want to thank him for looking out! And in case u haven't heard, Video Music Box is going to be celebrating their 25th anniversary with a kick-off party on June 14th and a free concert in Central Park on July 18th. Make sure u go out and support!
Just when I thought the Assorted Donutssaga was over, I get a phone call from my boy asking me if I saw Video Music Box the other night. I ask him why and he tells me that Ralph played videos of Mos Def's "Miss Fat Booty" and Redman's "The Saga Continues" with the remixes I did replacing the original tracks. A few months later and I've finally got the videos with a surprise bonus!
Big L & J Dilla "Put It On Remix" (From Assorted Donuts)
It's only right that I post this video first because Big L's birthday is on Friday. And on that note, I think now is a good time to announce that I'm currently working on a Big L mixtape that will be released as a free online download only on February 15th of 2009. The mix is to mark the ten year anniversary of Big L's passing and will contain all original material along with some unreleased tracks. A huge thank you goes out to Lord Finesse for letting me put this together.
With all the hype over the last few weeks about the VH-1 Hip Hop Honors and The Yo! MTV Raps revival, I want everybody to turn their attention to the greatest hip-hop show and host of all time... If u were fortunate enough to grow up in New York City or in the Tri-State area in the 80's & early to mid 90's, then u should be familar with this!
Also, Ralph has a new website which contains video's from the 80's & 90's as well as footage of unreleased interviews and performances... Peep some of the links below (the video's take a few seconds to load so be patient).
PS - Ralph, Can u please post the Das EFX performance of "They Want EFX" from early '92 and the Biz and Kane footage (it cuts in at the end of the Nas "Live At The Fever" clip)? There's also a clip of Flex spinnin a house set on Hot 97 when he had just started there and it was a dance station... Could u please post that as well?
