The Rap Radar Mix (No Idea's Original)

This 70 minute mix is made up of the illest samples that were used by your favorite artists and producers in 2009. It was posted Monday afternoon on Rap Radar. In case you missed it, you can download it here

First off, I want to thank Elliott Wilson for allowing me to do this project! Second, I want to thank Dro and The Burn It Down Music Group for hooking it up. Shouts also to Denis (from Mighty Healthy) for coming thru at the last minute with the artwork.

I also want to ackowledge some of the DJ's who influenced this mix in one way or another. Ken Sport, Kon & Amir, DJ Riz, Kid Capri, Questlove & Clark Kent. Thank you for the inspiration!

Last but not least, thank you to all of the record stores, producers, and collectors who helped me out! For anybody out there who's interested in record diggin in the Rotten Apple, make sure you check out Big City Records, A-One, Good Records, Academy Records and Sound Library. Peace!

PS - Happy New Year!

Would it be cheeky to ask for a tracklist?

DJ SOUL said...

It's not cheeky but out of respect for the artists and producers who flipped these tracks, I choose not to post a tracklisting.

Links both work fine

Can we get an artist listing? I wasn't alive for most of these tracks when they came out but I practically want every track in this mix (and if its vinyl that's even better)

Sorry fam. No tracklisting. If you know the song that uses the sample, you can buy the artist's album and check the credits. The sample listings are usually listed

Congrats. Dope mix and definitely respect for showing love to the DJ's who inspired you to take on such a project. That's always a good look.

And yes, those ARE some good places for vinyl.

I recently revisited this. I need to know the name of the joint with the Ghostface drop on it. lol

You don't have to tell me the actual song, but I do wonder... which artist used that sample? And for what song?
It's the joint that you play directly after "Here I Am" by The Blue Notes.

Holla at cha boy Soul!

Ghostface used it. The track is "You Can't Stop My Love" by Norman Feels
