Once again, it's the return of Mixtape Wednesdays. For this edition I'm posting a rare mix of Clark Kent spinnin some originals and r&b classics on Hot 97. This was when the station would let outside DJ's come in and do what they wanted without giving them a playlist during the mixmaster weekends.

oh man this is dope.
this was back when business followed hip hop culture, not the other way around.
This was also a time where u didnt have to be a heavy hitter or a big dawg pitbull to be on the station...
lol, dope post.
TO MY MAN DJ SOUL.. I AM HONORED TO BE INCLUDED ON YOUR BLOG.. PEACE & LOVE.. DJCK
LET ME ADD... YES THEY LET THE DJ'S PLAY DURING MIXMASTER WEEKENDS... BUT.. I WAS THE ONE WHO GOT IN TROUBLE FOR GOING, SO ORIGINAL, WITHOUT PLAYING ANY RAP.. THE PROGRAM DIRECTOR CALLED THE STATION ABOUT 6 TIMES DURING THE SET, SCREAMING "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING? THE LISTENER DOESN'T KNOW THAT OLD STUFF!!"... I IGNORED THE RANTS AND PLAYED THE SAMPLES... I BELIEVE, IF A DJ CANT TEACH THE MUSIC.. HE IS A DAMN WASTE..
any way you could put up a tracklisting for the first mix?
wow I was 12 and everytime I use to hear the mixmaster weekend..ALL i wanted to do is dj and work for a radio station...Its sad but now the radio game has changed....and the dj game..now everyone is going by serato a true dj in my opinion knows how to go through a crate of records in a matter of 15 seconds and find that hit record.....
Incredible mix!! I rmember watching the "Def Beat" video when Clark is cutting and rips his shirt(pause) and has a Superman T shirt on...ahhh, when I was excited about hip hop, but here the Mixing smooth, cuts clean and selection top notch!!! This was back when I would beg anyone I knew in NY to record me shows and mail me the tapes..this shit here is a banger! thanks you Soul for posting this!!!!!!!
CLARK realllllllly killin it on this one... the asha puthli!?!
