Mixtape Wednesdays #2

Since it's Halloween, I was gonna post one of those DJ Clue Halloween mixes from the mid 90's but I wasn't able to find any of the tapes. However, I was able to find the Doo Wop / Bad Boy Vol.2 but I'm not ready to post that...

For this week's edition, we're taking it back to the early 90's where a kid from The Polo Grounds known as the "Youngest In Charge" was on his way to being crowned "The Mix King". For all of the youngsters checking this out, pay attention. The mixes are called blends... Not mash-ups!

Ron G - Mixes #1
(Recorded in 1991)

I don't have time to put up the tracklisting but highlights include Phil Collin's "In The Air Tonight" and Michael Jackson's "Man In The Mirror" mixed with Biz Markie's "Make The Music" as well as Troop's Spread My Wings" over EPMD's "You're A Customer". Those blends along with Kid Capri's mix of Stephanie Mill's "Something In The Way" from the 10/9 mixtape inspired me to get into spinnin...

wow...16-17 years old, and it still sounds fresh! NY was on some shit then. Blend tapes like this are what gave NYC it's allure.

I've never heard this, so thanks for going through the trouble of posting this! I AM struggling through the hiss, though! Somebody needs to commission Ron G to re-make this...

hahaHA! What up Soul...?
NICE! I had THAT tape back in the day... but it disappeared (along with an entire suitcase of tapes & a radar detector) when my car got towed from 'longside Wash Sq. Park in 199ummm... lets just say it was a long time ago, but I did get to peep Ron G spin @ MARS the same night some Nasty lil' kid from QNS got on stage to perform "Halftime".
