More Flavor...

If I'm gonna post Switch, I might as well put this up... I really should just finish up this samples mix that I have on hold...

New Years Eve

I'll be on the set from 1am until 4am.
Expect good music and good people!

Throw Some D's

I'm only posting this because of a conversation that me and Jaycee had on twitter. Now, I've noticed that a few club DJ's in New York have been playing the originals that I've been posting on my blog and I know damn well, if I didn't post them, some of these cats wouldn't have any idea! If you want to really want to impress the people, play some shit that nobody knows! It's been a minute since I heard a New York City DJ do that... Shouts to Rich Medina, Mister Cee, Ken Sport, Q-Tip, Clark Kent, Stretch Armstrong & Marc Ronson...

Raise It Up

In five hours I'm heading back to Japan!

In the meantime, you can catch me talking shit on twitter...

On Christmas day, I'll be spinning an 80's hip-hop set on Shade 45 from noon until 2pm... The mix will be posted here after the show for anybody who wants to download it... What up Reef!

Also, big shouts to everybody who came out to the Okayplayer Holiday Jam on Thursday. Pic's are posted up on Photo By Tone and Village Slum. Jim Jones was scheduled to perform but it didn't go down due to some drama at the door. Earlier in the day, he came to sound check and performed "Pop Champagne" and "We Fly High" with The Roots. How that didn't get recorded is beyond me.

El Saeso's Birthday & The Worship Worthy Holiday Bash

The festivities began Monday night at Sofa Lounge (formerly X-Bar and Jimmy's Bronx Cafe) for Mike's birthday. Sadat X performed a few joints (including this) and there were some dominican dancers shaking that ass.  What a nice way to start off the week. Big shouts to Chris for looking out!

Live From The X-Bar

After that we hit up Korea Town from some Korean BBQ.
Not the smartest idea to eat at 3:30 in the morning
but I never tried it before so why not.

Breakfast

And on Tuesday night, the party continued at Socialista where we hosted the Worship Worthy Holiday Party. Shouts to Jen, Max Glazer, Angela, Mel D Cole, 88 Keys, Izza Kizza, Matt Life, Schott Free, Gaby, Dorian, Miguel, Jean (sorry I couldn't find your battery),  Nicole, Erin, Reid, Angelo, 13th Witness, Dante Ross, Sammy The Jew, Liat, Christian Alexander, Nagman (Coat Of Arms), Dan Solomito, Kristen, Christina, Marcus, Tiffany, Denise, Tommy (Alife), Dave (Ssur), Roscoe (Nike), Melody,  Lisa, Sharlene, Jerry, Scott Melker, Josh (10 Deep), Amaury, Oldface, and everybody who came out! Best moment of the night was when Cee-Lo stopped by and I played The Goodie Mobb's "Cell Therapy."  The oh shit factor was in full effect! And because I was spinning most of the night, I only took two pic's (below). To check out all of the pic's, go here and here.

Japan

I'll be in Shibuya from the 22nd until the 26th and I'm spinning at Club Harlem on Christmas Eve. Anybody want to tell me what I should do while I'm out there? I'm sick of sneakers and streetwear so please don't tell me to go to Mad Hectic or Mita Sneakers.

Next Thursday

I'll be spinning at the Okayplayer Holiday Bash. The Roots will be doing their thing along with a few special guests! If you missed last years event, here are a few highlights. Questlove playing the drums and singing? I'm still astonished! Bilal covering Led Zeppelin and Radiohead? That was fire! This will definetely be a night to remember!

Thursday, December 11, 2008

Next Tuesday

Worship Worthy will be celebrating the launch of their holiday collection from 10pm until 1am. Max Glazer and I will be on the set then we'll be celebrating El Saeso and his 38 special's birthday. Groups of guys will not be permitted.

Last Night

First up on the agenda was a Lacoste dinner party at Da Silvano's. I usually go next door to Bar Pitti but that's a subject for another day. Anyhow, alot of good people were in the place (photo's are below). There were other people there but because my camera was experiencing exposure problems, alot of the pic's didn't come out. Shouts to Matt Goias, Max Glazer, Ayres, Cosmo, Eleven, D-Nice, The Arab Parrot, A Trak, Master Ace, Spinbad, Fancy and everybody else who I forgot. Oh yeah, thanks to Lacoste for the package and the dinner!

40 Bars

Allen "The Answer" Iverson

According to Wikipedia: "Iverson recorded a rap single named 40 Bars. However, after being criticized for its controversial lyrics, he eventually was unable to release it. Going under his moniker, "Jewelz", the album was alleged to have made derogatory remarks about homosexuals. After criticism from activist groups and NBA Commissioner David Stern, he agreed to change the lyrics, but ultimately never released the album

Since I'm on the subject of Mr Iverson, can anybody tell me why the Pistons traded Chauncey Billups for him?

It's A Good Day In New York

The Yankee's have signed Sabathia!

And the Mets finally have a dominant relief pitcher.

2009 is goin to be a great baseball season for New York City!

Brooklyn Bound

Yesterday I took the subway for the third time since the World Trade Center disaster in 2001. I'm not afraid to take the train, I just like the convenience of being to able to come and go at my discretion. Anyhow, I decided to leave the truck at home and took a car service into the city. When it was time for me to head home to Brooklyn, I jumped on the downtown A train. As I sat down, I noticed that the guy to my left had a Bob James 45 in his hand and was talking to the person behind me about hip-hop and production. During the next 20 minutes, I heard parts of the conversation and was ready to jump in but didn't. As I got up to transfer at Hoyt & Schermerhorn, dude behind me stands up and we both realize that we know each other.

Spinna: We were sitting next to each other the whole time and didn't know it?

Soul: I was in a zone. This is my third time taking the train in 7 or 8 years.

Spinna: Me too! Wifey had to take the car today!

It's Magic!

Doesn't Jay-Z need a single right now? He could always jack this!
On another note, wouldn't it be nice to hear more positive music?
All this talk of heartbreak, recession and champagne is annoying me.

Space Is The Place

I will be watching this later tonight...

New Blogs...

A-Trak launched his a while back...

And Ferris Buller has been in effect for a weeks now...
Both are worth checking...

Psychoanalysis

After putting up the De La Soul post (below this), I decided to go thru the Prince Paul catalog and realized that I never listened to this album (which came out 12 years ago). Today I did... Three times... That should mean something...
