Mixtape Wednesdays #6

On Wednesday I wasn't sure what I wanted to post so I asked if you wanted the Grandmaster Vic mix, the Buckwild mix or a Stretch & Bobbito show from '94. After reading the comments, I decided to post them all... Enjoy!

First off, we turn our direction to Queens where a blend DJ known as Grandmaster Vic was catching props on songs from The Large Professor & Organized Konfusion. This mix from '94 isn't his best but it's worth posting because Vic had some shit out in the early 90's and doesn't get the props he deserves when heads talk about the mixtape game... Grandmaster Vic - Sept. 21st 1994 (Side A) / (Side B)

Next up is Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito Da Barber live on 89 Tek 9 in June of '94... Roc Raida had just won the DMC / USA DJ Battle Championship and Rosie Perez, Natural Elements & Keith Murray were all in the house... Sorry, no audio on Keith...
Stretch Armstrong & Bobitto on WKCR (June 2nd, 1994)

Last up is a classic R&B mix from Buckwild... No, not that trick from Flavor Flav's reality show or the morning show host that got fired from Power 105. I'm talking about the producer from D.I.T.C... That's right! Before Buckwild got into producing, he was putting out mixtapes (circa early 90's)...

Mixtape Wednesdays #5

In case u didn't know, Lord Finesse is also a DJ and has skills. I haven't heard him spin in a while but this tape proves my point. Back in the early 90's, him and Buckwild were dropping mixtapes on the regular. It's bugged listening to this cuz of the echo on his mic. What's also bugged is that he was a rapper who had put out two albums and was putting out mixtapes as a hobby. Or maybe it was the other way around? Regardless... As a member of D.I.T.C and a producer who's worked with Dr Dre & The Notorious BIG, I'm sure we can all agree on how underrated he is...

Mixtape Wednesdays #4

Oh shit... We're keeping it Uptown again this week... Released around the same time as A Tribe Called Quest's first album, Capri drops a few classic cuts and addresses drama with a crosstown crew... Side B contains a freestyle that showcases Capri's party chant which would be recited on Showbiz & AG's "Party Groove". Let it be known that this wasn't re-issued like 10/9 or Old School Vol's 1 to 3.

New York To Miami

So it's Tuesday morning and I just got back from Miami where I attended Diddy's birthday party on Saturday night. I was gonna post a classic mix that I did for him (right before he hired me to spin at The 2005 MTV Music Awards) but that's gonna have to wait for another day cuz I'm still beat...

The picture above is the aftermath of his fireworks display (which almost blew up Star Island).

New Shit... Usher & Ludacris...

I can't decide if this is music or noise... Will it be big in 2 months? Who knows... But I can u tell this... I will not be playing it (sorry Jive) and I guarantee that it will not be nominated for a grammy.

Usher feat. Ludacris "Dat Girl Right There"

If anybody knows who produced this track, drop me a comment and let me know. I'm really hoping that Pharrell or Lil Jon weren't involved...

PS - Jive Records got mad about the post and deleted the tracks... If u wanna hear it, google it.. I'm pretty sure 8 hundred and 98 other blogs have posted it and still have it posted.... I guess this blog is starting to develop a voice in the urban market... Who needs nahright!

Mixtape Wednesdays #3

For this week's edition, we're turning our attention to the Boogie Down Bronx's own... The Bouncemaster... Doo Wop... In case u didn't know, 95 Live Part 1 & 2 have been re-issued and are available as double disc cd's (along with Spring 1 & 2 and Fall Flava 94)... Out of respect of the catalog being released, I'm only posting Side A of Fall Flava '94... Ripped from tape of course for your hissing pleasure...

And since I'm only posting up one side, here's a bonus...
Doo Wop "Live From The Tunnel" (1995)

Hip Hop Junkies (Spanish Fly Remix)

Back when this record dropped I knew alot of Puerto Ricans and just a few Dominicans.. Now it's the complete opposite... I know alot of Dominicans & not too many Boriquas... Can anybody drop some knowledge on if the PR population has decreased in the Rotten Apple over the last 15 years? I know Fat Joe moved to Miami...

New Shit... Snoop Dog "Sensual Seduction"

Snoop Dog "Sensual Seduction"

Produced by Shawty Redd... Is that Snoop on the vocoder? Is it true that there's a dirty version titled "Sexual Eruption"? What the hell is goin on here?
